MWP1 is a very old planetary nebula in the Cygnus constellation. It is estimated to be 150,000 years old. A normal planetary nebula does not usually exceed 20,000 years of life. It is a difficult object to photograph due to its low brightness, but with enough hours and H and O filters, it is accessible. I have previously taken some photos with HOO and wanted to experiment if introducing G shots could enrich the red and blue HO tones. Of the 31 hours of total exposure, 5 are shots with a G filter. The red channel is H, the blue channel is O and the green channel is (G*0.5) + (O*0.5). The luminance is HOO. With just one trial I can't say if it was worth it. Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
